The sun was out, the Indiana humidity was in full force, and nearly a hundred athletes from around the Midwest arrived at Silver Lake Farms on May 23, 2010 to compete in the third annual Door Prairie Duathlon, which benefits the Door Prairie Christian Daycare and the Door Prairie Seventh-Day Adventist School.

From the starting gun, Greg and Lisa Mueller led the charge through the scenic but difficult 5k running trail, a position they each would

keep throughout the race to come in first place in Men’s and Women’s Overall, respectively. The competition was fierce and the diversity

along the trails was stunning—children as young as eight ran and biked alongside adults for all three legs of the race or split up into relay teams, and athletes representing every angle of the duathlon sport gave it their all, whether they were beginners, casual competitors, or seasoned runners and cyclists.

The morning only got hotter as the race went on, but the athletes were prepared and persistent, and the finish line was crossed by every participant. Congratulations, athletes, on a job well done, and we hope to see you all again in 2011!
